Terms and conditions

How we quote, install and look after irrigation systems, and what you can expect from us. Part of the Cutting Hedge Landscape Group.

01Who these terms are with

Cutting Edge Irrigation is the irrigation arm of the Cutting Hedge Landscape Group. These terms cover enquiries, surveys, quotations, installation and seasonal maintenance of irrigation systems.

When you accept a quotation, the written quotation and these terms together form the agreement.

02Surveys and quotations

Initial consultations and site visits are free of charge. A quotation is prepared after we have seen the site and measured the available flow and pressure.

Quotations are based on the conditions found on the day of the survey. If something material is discovered once work begins, such as uncharted services, rock, contaminated fill or a supply that performs differently from the test, we will stop and agree the change with you before continuing.

03Scope and changes

The work we carry out is the work described in your quotation. Anything outside that scope, including extra zones, additional planting areas or changes to the controller, is quoted separately.

You are responsible for telling us about anything buried in the working area that we cannot reasonably detect: private drains, electrical services, fibre, fuel tanks, irrigation from a previous owner or drainage systems.

04Access, water and power

We need reasonable access to the garden, a working outdoor tap, and a power supply for commissioning. Where access is restricted, tell us before the visit so it can be planned in.

Unless stated in the quotation, you are responsible for obtaining any permission needed for work on rented, leased, listed or shared land, and for any consent required for a borehole or a rainwater harvesting installation.

05Payment

Payment terms, stage payments and any deposit are set out in your quotation. Invoices are payable as stated on them.

Where works are paused at your request after materials have been ordered or work begun, we may invoice for materials and labour already committed.

06Guarantee and warranty

We install to the manufacturer’s instructions, and the guarantee we give on our work is stated in your quotation. Manufacturer warranties on controllers, valves, pumps and heads pass to you and are administered by the manufacturer.

Guarantees do not cover damage from frost where the system was not winterised, from third-party excavation, from alterations by others, from contaminated or excessive water supply, or from a lack of the routine maintenance set out in your handover notes.

07Seasonal maintenance

Start-up, winterisation and repair visits are booked by agreement and may be affected by weather and ground conditions. Where a visit has to be moved, we will offer the nearest available date.

Seasonal visits are charged as set out in your quotation or maintenance agreement. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged for the visit.

08Cancellation and liability

You may cancel an order in writing before work starts; we may charge for materials already ordered and for survey work carried out. Our liability for any claim is limited to the value of the work carried out under the relevant quotation, and we do not accept liability for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of plants or turf arising from a fault you have reported and not allowed us to attend.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

09Complaints

If something is not right, contact us by email at water@cuttingedgeirrigation.com with your project reference and photographs where relevant. We aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days and to inspect the work before proposing a remedy.

10Your data

Enquiry details, drawings and site notes are held so we can quote, install and maintain your system. How we handle that information is set out in our privacy notice.
